Here are a few things that are making me happy this week.

chloe eau de fleurs, lavende.  this is sooo beautiful.  I normally wear the original, but will be moving to this one.

see...

if you have not heard already, lady gaga is now the creative director of polaroid.   I cannot wait to see whats in store, especially with the re-launch of instant cameras.

I was totally obsessed with this painting growing up.  So much so, that my mother even let me paint my bedroom walls in the same electric blue that is in the painting.  Worth another visit to the Tate, tell her I said hi.

more fun vintage.  These shoes are old, from the 70s.  Brand name is 'Mr Christian' which I can't find anything on.  Everybody needs a pair of disco shoes.

I'm off this weekend to...

...search for tagine so I can cook up a storm.  I have been told there are lovely ones at dragonmart way out in the desert.  wish me luck, will update on this new cooking adventure next week.
...say farewell to my lovely, close friend Cressida who is making her way back to her home country of New Zealand.  So many hugs, a few tears, and a lot of love from all of us.  xxx
...spend some time on my balcony in the sun.
...try out a new album  - SHE & HIM, volume two.
...watch a movie or two.  I am feeling a little retro this weekend so 'bullitt' and 'ghostworld' are on the menu.

these were taken from my balcony where I live right now (downtown, burj dubai). the sun sets between the large block of buildings on the left and on a clear day I can see the ocean. nice.

vintage love...

I have started a little inventory project of my wardrobe in preparation for selling a few things.  Fifteen years scanning vintage stores has given me quite of few bits of sparkle.  Here is the find for the day.

This is an old sequin jacket I picked up for next to nothing.  It is sooo heavy to wear but sooo much fun!

I don't know why but everytime I come across a lovely lamp post in my travels I can't help but take a photo!   These are from Paris, many years ago.

A few nights ago I was at a friends house for dinner. After an hour or so of banter (Oyster Bay, Chardonnay banter to be exact), we started talking about Women's Weekly cookbooks and just how darn good they are.  We agreed on the best cookbook ever - THE AUSTRALIAN WOMEN'S WEEKLY CHILDRENS BIRTHDAY CAKE BOOK. And to my amazement, she pulled out an original copy from her bookcase. SO MUCH EXCITEMENT! For a moment I was frozen back in time…early 80s, as I turned each page another amazing cake awaited. I can still remember the cakes my Mum made, and the cakes I only dreamed about!  My favourite? Barbie doll with a skirt made of chocolate, strawberry and vanilla ice cream. Yum!

erm...whatever happened to...

Taking pride in what you do, caring about people and just doing a good job?  Seriously, if you don't like what you do, please go somewhere else so we can get on with it.
