R.I.P. Mork

Yesterday was a sad day indeed.  After suddenly becoming sick over the past few days, my friends beloved cat passed away.  She was such a beautiful cat full of nothing but love for her mum Cressie, and her sister Mindy.

Like a lot of cats in Dubai, Mork (and her sister) were dumped after being treated poorly.  When Cress took them in they were so scared of everything, spending most of their time hiding under bed covers.  But after a long time, and a lot of love, they started to relax when they realised they were living in a nice safe home with a lovely mum to take care of them.

I won't feel sad today, instead I will celebrate the sweet life Mork had, full of love right to the end, knowing that if Cress had not taken her in, she may never have known what a good life was.

aaahhh bless Mork, her sweet little sister Mindy, and Mum Cressie.

how to get your friends trollied in five minutes...

a little mix created for when you need it the most.  always a good starter for when people walk in the door...but watch out...especially if you are like me and have no interest in measuring...

gin and pimms baby
- get the biggest glass you can
- throw in the gin
- throw in the pimms
- throw in some lemonade
- then some crushed berries (frozen or fresh)
- some ice
- lime if you feel the urge
and drink...

...really, is it my fault if the glass is almost full before I add the lemonade?

oh my god crazy grey coat ladies...marc jacobs is watching us...

so this is from the latest marc jacobs show...is he watching us?  has he been secretly following our adventures?
come on marc...jealous much?

music love, love music

I'd like to be able to choose just one from these three albums but for me it's an impossible task.  Depending on which day you catch me there will be one of these three on the playlist.  And the same goes for songs, each day it's a different one from each album.  The are all so beautiful, I couldn't possibly leave any behind.
below are three songs picked that are the beauties of the day, enjoy.

Artisit:  Ray LaMontagne
Album, gossip in the grain
Song, gossip in the grain (the music at the beginning reminds me of the soundtrack to Suspiria - Italian horror film from the 70s...very Goblin like)
Album, till the sun turns black
Song, empty (beautiful storing telling road song)

Album, trouble
Song, Shelter (this song is one of my favourites ever, love it, love it, love it.)

thanks but not thanks, I’ll keep my face.

with all the tabloid fodder out there (‘dirty filler’ as I like to call it) it’s not unusual for us on a daily basis to see pictures of models and actresses who have had plastic surgery.  So many pages dedicated to ‘before’ and ‘after’ shots and who has had what done. But for some reason like many people this one just makes me feel sad.  To see a beautiful young girl in her early twenties spend so much money on so many surgeries, only to make her look like a 40 year old woman with an expressionless face, I just wonder what’s going on in that head.
First let me point out like most women, I too have insecurities about my looks.   There will always be a part of me that still thinks I am that geeky kid walking down the street.  But never in my life have I wanted to change my entire face.
So what does my face look like? …Well, I have a slightly large nose that to me kind of stands out in photos,  my smile can look a little kooky because it’s straight (the sides of my mouth don’t curve up). There is a scar on my forehead that when I get flustered heats up and lets you see where the stiches went.  I also have a hole  in my left cheek from a cut that never healed properly when I was a child, and then of course the moles and freckles on my face, including one big freckle right in the middle of my nose.
But these are all mine and nobody else can have them.
What others view as imperfections I view as the things that make me beautiful as an individual.  These lovely little scars, freckles, moles, wrinkles are all mine.
They are my history and tell so many stories.
And I can’t help but feel that this girls history has gone.

meltdown city ain't so comforting...

After spending almost my entire time at 'meltdown city' (a place filled with tears and frustration). I am very happy this weekend is over.  Today this sweet little song that I know so well is getting me by.

Tomorrow, I promise to wake up and see the silver lining and 'those' lights at the end of the tunnel. But for now, if it's okay with everybody, I want to wollow just a little bit longer.

crazy grey coat lady adventure PART ONE...

for the first time in Dubai the crazy grey coat ladies were altogether. As host of this first of many adventures, I could not have asked for more amazing companions. The grey coats informed me that they cannot wait for the next installment...preferably with a bit of cold weather so they can come out to play xxx

woohoo! the crazy grey coat ladies are coming to town!

hooplah!

good use of a whiteboard...

I hardly ever use my whiteboard at work. So I decided to put it to good use.
Now, instead of looking at a massive empty space, I get to look at photos taken from my travels. Anyone who can guess where they were all taken wins a prize, which so far has not been won. Have left a little bit of space for work just in case, but lets be honest, it's way more fun trying guess which pictures were taken in Venice.
